From Concept to Care: Our Evolution
Based in Cape Town, South Africa, Stone Three observed that many communities, both in rural parts of the United States and across Africa, faced significant barriers to accessing specialised medical care. Patients often had to travel long distances to consult with specialists, leading to delays in diagnosis and treatment.
Our team of PhDs in computer science and engineering, published researchers in medical visualization, and AI experts, were well-equipped to tackle this challenge. Our collective expertise allowed us to understand the unique technical and clinical requirements essential for developing an effective telehealth platform. We worked closely with healthcare professionals in the USA and South Africa to understand their environments, needs, and challenges.
The result was the first browser-based stethoscope streaming platform for the Littmann 3200, offering live, diagnostic-quality stethoscope streaming and AI-powered heart murmur detection with over 95% accuracy.
